About Sainik Schools:
Sainik Schools are a network of prestigious residential schools in India, established and supported by the Ministry of Defence. Their main aim is to prepare young students academically, mentally, and physically for entry into the National Defence Academy (NDA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), and other defence services.
Sainik Schools provide a unique combination of quality education, military-style discipline, and sports & leadership training, helping students become confident, patriotic, and responsible citizens.
Admission Details:
Admissions are mainly open for Class 6 and Class 9. The All India Sainik School Entrance Examination (AISSEE) is conducted every year by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
- Eligibility: Both boys and girls can apply.
- Selection Process: Entrance test, medical exam, and document verification.
- Medium of Exam: English and regional languages.
Sainik Schools in India:
There are currently 33 established Sainik Schools across various states and UTs, such as:
Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal.
Additionally, several new Sainik Schools have been approved under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to expand defence-oriented education across India.
